Transgender Podcast Launched by Australian Duo

If you’ve searched for a transgender podcast recently, then you might have noticed that there kinda aren’t any; at least none that are still active. At last check, 2014 was the most current I could find. An Australian duo from Wollongong has changed that with the launch of their new podcast “Transgeneral”.

Charlotte Tortorella and her friend Chelsey Sanderson launched the website a few weeks back to fill the gap in the transgender podcast arena. Tortorella wanted to contribute to the community by creating an entertaining but educational show that would address the issues in a friendly and conversational way.

I thought, “Why don’t I make one? I know a lot of transgender people and I could have them on the show.”

“I thought ‘why don’t I make one, I know a lot of transgender people and I could have them on the show'”, Tortorella said.

Already they have over 400 subscribers to the podcast, and their reach has extended as far as the US and Canada. The need was clearly there to inform the community and help them to understand a very confusing and overwhelming turn in their lives.

“There are a lot of words and concepts to get your head around and it can seem daunting sometimes, even if you’re in the trans community.” explained Chelsey Sanderson.

The duo also hopes that a transgender podcast can serve as a way to inform those outside the community as well as being a resource for allies. And that would certainly be a great thing.

Check out their website here and you can find them on iTunes here. You can also find their direct podcast link here.
